Bandhas are what you could refer to as “old school” yoga. Outlined in the ancient yoga text The Hatha Yoga Pradipika, bandhas have been around long before any of our contemporary yoga styles took shape. Considered both a form of mudra (ritual gesture) as well as internal muscular locks, bandhas marry the subtle body with the gross body and the internal anatomy to the cerebral brain. This workshop will include a review of the location and function of the three most practiced bandhas and ways to incorporate them into asana practice. Come on an empty stomach. Not appropriate for pregnant women.
